Dear Brent families,

The last three weeks have been packed with a variety of activities from all-school celebrations, and the ISAC tournament to projects and field trips in the Lower School. What amazing opportunities for ESLRs learning and development. Here’s sharing some photos and acknowledgments:

  1. Congratulations to the officers, members, and advisors (Bb. Nelly Doliente, Ms. Donna Nebrija, Mr. Joshua Paludipan, and Mrs. Geraldine Reyes) of NHS and STUCO for a successful Winter Ball held on January 20! Thanks to the volunteer faculty who helped supervise and all our support and security staff who helped make the Winter Ball a success! Here’s sharing some photos:

2. Thank you to our Mandarin classes and Loasher Jennie Candelaria for a memorable, meaningful, and inspiring Chinese New Year community event! Thank you to all the individuals who extended their help and support!

3. Great job to the Boys’ Football and Girls’ Basketball teams on their performance at the ISAC hosted by Subic on January 26-28! The Bulldogs fought valiantly in every game and both teams brought home 6th place honors. Our players worked tirelessly to earn every point and showed tremendous courage, sincerity, and teamwork.

A big round of applause to Ae Padilla (G10), Minchang Kwon (G10), and Ailwyn Gayadon (G12) for being nominated for the All ISAC Award!

Thank you to our coaches: Mr. Drew Hare, Mr. Kris Nebrija, Mr. Boy Arandez, and Mrs. Grace Arandez. Thank you to our PTA/parents who expressed support in a variety of ways: healthy snacks, messages of cheer, a dinner treat, and presence and cheers at the bleachers.

We are very proud of our Bulldogs!

4. CAS Clubs Assembly: Well done to all our CAS club student facilitators and faculty supervisors/club supervisors! Cheering for our clubs! Thank you Ms Laura for organizing the assembly.  The CLUB FORM IS DUE ON FRIDAY, February 10th, 6 p.m. Clubs will begin on Tuesday, February 14th.

5. Thanks also to the Grade 10 students and parents who attended the Grade 11/12 pathways information afternoon, Tuesday, January 31, 3:00-4:00 by Mr Paul and Ms Almae. This first session focused on the three pathways in Grades 11 and 12:

  • Brent Diploma

  • Brent Diploma + International Baccalaureate Course Results

  • Brent Diploma + International Baccalaureate diploma

The session also covered university admissions vis-à-vis these three pathways from our Guidance counselor, Ms. Almae Caluya. The next two sessions will be on the core courses and IB subject offerings.

6. Thank you to Coach Boy, our faculty, and the support staff team for a successful Field Day on Friday! Thank you to all the parents/guardians and alumni who joined our races or cheered for their house. Congratulations once again to Red House! Let’s look forward to the BISB Cross Country event which is scheduled on March 17, Friday. More photos to come.

7. Well done to our Grade 4/5 and Ms. Kat Moredo for a successful Vivita Pakwan Race! It was a fun avenue for learning and putting into practice what students have learned about forces and motion. It also helped students develop an interest in and appreciation of interdisciplinary connections particularly in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).  Students built a robotic cart as a group. Parents and faculty also formed their own teams! Thanks to all our faculty volunteers, parents, and the staff support team that made this event possible. Also, it was lovely to have Mr. Dick Robbins, CEO/President of Brent Schools Inc. present at the event.

Our special gratitude also goes to Vivita for partnering with us!

8.  Thanks and congratulations to Ms. Ada Peniano and Ms. Shelley Segundo for a successful K/1 trip to the Botanical Garden and Burnham Park area. Our K/1 students’ field trip was in connection to learning about plants and maps.

Thanks to Mrs. Aiza Lopez Emslie, Brent parent, for helping in chaperoning our students. Thanks to our support staff team: clinic/accounting/transport/admin team!

We express our heartfelt gratitude to the Brent community and assure you of our unwavering dedication to molding the character of our students and providing an exceptional education. Inspired by our mission, values, ESLRs, and this year’s theme of “Be a responsible community member,” we are eagerly looking forward to the interactive and meaningful learning experiences that await both in the classroom and through community and hands-on events this quarter.

Sincerely,

Dr. Celeste R. Engler
