Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, Faculty, and Staff,
We hope that you and your families are safe and well following the recent weather. We know that some members of our community are still experiencing power interruptions and other disruptions, and we continue to keep everyone affected in our thoughts and prayers. Please continue to prioritize your family’s safety and well-being.
At the same time, barring any unforeseen circumstances, we are very much looking forward to finally welcoming our students back to campus tomorrow, Wednesday, August 12, for Day 1.
Tomorrow’s special schedule has been adjusted to accommodate some of the important school-opening activities we were unable to hold earlier this week due to the weather-related suspensions. We hope it will give our students a warm and meaningful start to the new school year.
1. Wednesday, August 12 – Day 1 schedule
Dress Code: Complete Brent Uniform
Weather-Related Uniform Adjustments | Given the rainy weather, students may wear raincoats and rain boots while traveling to and from school or moving between buildings on campus. The complete Brent uniform remains required, and students may wear their Brent jackets underneath raincoats or other protective outerwear for additional warmth. For this first week, students who do not yet have a Brent jacket may wear an appropriate non-Brent jacket while families arrange to obtain one.
Students should also bring extra socks and a change of shoes in case their footwear becomes wet, helping keep them warm and comfortable and our learning spaces clean and safe. Students may use their lockers for keeping their belongings.

All parents and guardians are warmly invited to join us for the Welcome Chapel from 9:15-10:15 a.m.
Following the chapel, parents—especially those who are new to Brent—are invited to a Welcome Coffee from 9:15-10:15 a.m. at the Dining Hall. This will be an opportunity to meet other parents, connect with new families, and learn more about our school community.
3:00 PM, Dining Hall – MS–US Sports Orientation: Seasons 1–3
For Middle and Upper School students and parents interested in learning more about Brent sports opportunities for SY 2026–2027.
3. School Packs, Lockers & Supplies
School packs are now in the homeroom classrooms and may be collected by students during Homeroom tomorrow morning. Parents/guardians are kindly asked to label their child’s school pack and belongings once you receive them tomorrow.
Locker assignments will also be coordinated through Homeroom. Students may check with their homeroom teachers regarding padlocks and other school supplies.
4. Lunch Arrangements
For tomorrow:
-
Kinder–Grade 9: Dining Hall, with assigned tables
-
Grades 10–12: Cafeteria
Faculty and staff will be available to guide students as everyone becomes familiar with the routines.
5. No Regular Class Bells
Beginning this school year, and in alignment with our other Brent campuses, we will no longer use bells to signal the beginning and end of regular classes and periods.
Students and faculty should therefore become accustomed to following the published schedule and managing transitions on time without waiting for a bell.
Importantly, the bell system will be reserved for emergencies and safety-related situations. This will help ensure that when a bell or alarm is heard, our community recognizes that it requires attention and an appropriate response.
Teachers will help students become familiar with this change during the opening days of school.
6. Looking Ahead: Thursday and Friday
We appreciate everyone’s patience, flexibility, and cooperation through the weather-related adjustments to our opening. Tomorrow will also give us an opportunity to help students settle into their classrooms, lockers, schedules, dining arrangements, and other school routines.
Please also note that Thursday, August 13 will be Day 2, following our regular Late Start Thursday schedule, while Friday, August 14 will be Day 1. We hope this helps students and families plan for the remainder of the week.
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, we look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow for Day 1.
Please continue to check your email and our official school communication channels for any updates.
