Dear Brent Families,

Good morning. With the repeated suspension of face-to-face classes so early in the school year, I know many parents are understandably wondering what our plan will be if these disruptions continue.

We have only had a few actual class days so far, and we have not yet had our Tea Parties and other opportunities to properly orient families to the Brent Flexible Learning Plan. We therefore want to make sure that any transition is thoughtful, clear, and appropriate for each school level.

BRENT FLEXIBLE LEARNING PLAN

The City Government’s announcement today also specifically identified alternative delivery modalities, including modular distance learning, online distance learning, and blended learning where applicable, to help ensure learning continuity.

Our faculty are preparing today so that we can be ready to support students and families appropriately should further face-to-face suspensions occur.

For Grade 3-5, Middle and Upper School, this includes preparing Google Classrooms and other online learning resources.

For Lower School (PreK-Grade 2), the approach may include age-appropriate learning packets, parent instructions, and other materials that can support learning at home.

We want to go beyond simply responding to suspension notices and do our best to ensure that learning can continue in a practical, meaningful, and age-appropriate way.

We will be in touch again later today with more specific guidance on the Brent Flexible Learning Plan and what families can expect moving forward.

Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and continued support.
