Dear Brent families,

As we are approaching the end of August, we are hoping that our students and families have been adjusting well to their daily routines by this time.

We’re all looking forward to this coming three-day weekend as well as joining Baguio City in celebration of its charter anniversary.

Thank you to all the parents and guardians who attended the Middle and Upper School Tea Party. Here are the slides used yesterday.

Below are some important dates. Kindly note that these are easily accessible through the Activities Calendar posted on our website.  Also, anyone with a Google email address can add our school’s Activities Calendar to their personal calendars.

Here are some highlights from this week:

  1. Homeroom classes had an earthquake drill this morning, Friday, August 26, during homeroom time. Here’s sharing the videos used in teaching our students about safety during an earthquake:

  1. Video 1 If There’s NO Sturdy Desk or Table (Earthquake Safety Video Series)

  2. Video 2 If You’re Near a Sturdy Desk or Table (Earthquake Safety Video Series)

2. Phone pockets in Middle and Upper School classrooms- Being technologically literate means being able to discern and use technology wisely. Classrooms are equipped with phone pockets to support students’ time and distraction management.

Here are some upcoming events:

  1. No Classes on the following days:

    1. August 29 | Monday | National Heroes’ Day

    2. September 1 | Thursday | Baguio Day

Please note that on Friday, September 2, we will be following a Day 1 schedule.  This is in an effort to maintain alignment with our other Brent campuses.

  1. Lower School Tea Party

  1. National Honor Society (NHS) Non-Uniform Day, September 2 | Celebrating Baguio and the Cordillera culture!

Join us in commemorating the anniversary of our city as well as recognizing the importance of Baguio and the Cordillera culture! Students, faculty, and staff will be given the option of wearing either red, green, yellow, or black, or wearing Cordilleran attire or any outfit that shows appreciation for Baguio so we don’t have to purchase other clothes.

50 pesos will be collected from those who choose to participate in this event. Proceeds will go to the legacy project of the NHS!

See the note below. Here’s also reminding everyone about our dress code.

  1. Grade 12 Life Skills Retreat, Friday, Little Theater, September 9- 12:30- 3:20

  2. Measures of Academic Progress testing September 5-9, Grades 3-10

    1.  MAP PARENT INFORMATION SESSION, August 30, Tuesday, 8:00 – 8:45 AM

Parent and Student Resources Interface Page– Essential student-parent resources (school calendar, Student Parent Handbook, Faculty Directory, SEL resources, etc.) are accessible for reference throughout the school year. This is a dynamic page and is updated regularly and is available on our website.

Guided by our mission, values, ESLRs, and this year’s school theme, “Be a good community member”, let’s keep supporting one another.

Stay safe and have a happy long weekend, Brentonians!

Sincerely,

Dr. Celeste R. Engler
