Dear Brent families,

Congratulations to everyone for a successful first full week of school! Here’s looking forward to our upcoming activities and Week 2!

Below is some important information:

From the Clinic | Nurse Glaiza Tan | glaiza.tan@brentbaguio.edu.ph

We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you as we share the responsibility for our students’ safety and  success.  To maintain the safety and wellbeing of our students, Brent International School Baguio has continued to monitor various parameters and adhere to the recommendations of health officials.

Kindly see our guidelines below as of August 19. Rest assured that should a student need to stay home, we will continue to provide quality educational experiences, with the academic and social-emotional support they need during these challenging times.

If you have any questions and concerns please feel free to contact Nurse Glaiza Tan

For SYMPTOMATIC STUDENTS (exhibiting Covid-like symptoms such as fever, cough, tiredness, loss of taste or smell, headache)

Fully Vaccinated – Sent home; advised to consult their private physician and submit the medical certificate with or without Covid testing to clinic@brentbaguio.edu.ph ; to complete 7 days isolation/monitoring; may return to class once no more symptoms and cleared by the clinic

    • Students who do not have symptoms anymore and do not want to complete the 7-day isolation may opt to submit a negative RT-PCR test result and will be cleared to return to school OR a negative RAT result on the 5th day of isolation.

    • Asymptomatic unvaccinated/partially vaccinated siblings from the same household will stay home until the sick student is cleared. Asymptomatic, fully vaccinated siblings may physically report to school.

    • For symptoms more than or equal to 3 days, a medical certificate is required before returning to class

Close Contacts of Confirmed Case

    • Fully Vaccinated with no symptoms – 5 days quarantine with testing done on the 5th day, Day 1 is the last day of contact with the confirmed case (Five days quarantine for fully vaccinated close contacts is a temporary tighter measure being added to the protocol due to the increasing number of  sick child notifications and presence of unvaccinated children in school, this will be adjusted accordingly once the situation improves)

    • Unvaccinated/partially vaccinated – to complete 7 days quarantine, may return to class after 7 days if no symptoms develop

    • Symptomatic Close Contact – Regardless of vaccination status, a symptomatic close contact will be treated as a Covid suspect and will be referred to a private doctor for a check-up and possible testing.

Accommodations for students who are advised to stay home

As we share the responsibility for our students’ safety and success, students who need to stay home will be provided quality educational experiences, with the academic and social-emotional support they need during these challenging times.  These are dynamic challenges that will call for agility and innovation.

While we are no longer going back to the hyflex setup (as a modality of teaching across all subjects), faculty, to the best of their ability, will be implementing workable accommodations for students to be able to catch up.

Approaches and accommodations may vary according to the context of the student, the teacher, and the class. Here are the following possible accommodations:

1. Google Meet

2. Google Classroom- videos, study materials, and worksheets are available

3.  Office hours via Google Meet

4.  Google chat

5. other means

Grade 10/11 Art Classes- Museum Visits- Thank you to Dr. Julie (supervisor/faculty) and Dr. Gev (chaperone) for taking the students to the UP Baguio Museum and the Baguio Museum. The goals of the activity were to show Grade 10 and IB Art students the fundamentals of art composition and curation, self-understanding and connection, collaboration, future development, community awareness, breaking ground, and cultural appreciation. They sure had a memorable and meaningful learning experience!

Parent and Student Resources Interface Page– Essential student-parent resources (school calendar, Student Parent Handbook, Faculty Directory, SEL resources, etc.) are accessible for reference throughout the school year. This is a dynamic page and is updated regularly and is available on our website.

Guided by our mission, values, ESLRs, and this year’s school theme, “Be a good community member”, we are excited for what is to come as we start a full year of safe and enjoyable face-to-face classes.

On behalf of our faculty, staff, and administration, have a good weekend and stay safe, Bulldogs!

Sincerely,

Dr. Celeste R. Engler

School Principal
