Brent Bulletin 2023-2024-21

Dear Brent Community,

What an amazing Filipino Day we all had yesterday! Well done and congratulations to Bb. Nelly and all our Filipino classes for a successful Filipino Day on Friday. Huge thanks to the LS students as well as the Mandarin, ESL and homeroom classes who participated in the show. Cheers and thanks to ALL the staff, parents and faculty who helped make Filipino Day a day of community, Bayanihan and encouragement!

Earthquake and Evacuation Drills: Yesterday, on February 8, earthquake and evacuation drills were conducted for all students and staff. We are pleased to share the instructional videos utilized to educate our students on earthquake safety:

Here are the following updates for week Feb 12-18:

1. Monday, February 12, Day 1- PTA Soccer Clinic (Mondays and Fridays)  for Lower and Middle School students begins 3:00-4:30. Please refer to separate email for details.

2. Tuesday, February 13, Day 2- Half Day 7:45-11:25 a.m. | The school will have Long homeroom (Brent Day rehearsal), Block 1 and Block 2 classes. Dismissal will be at 11:25 a.m. (right after 2nd block). Kindly pick up your children promptly to avoid traffic. Offices remain open until 4:30 p.m. (Tuesday start of clubs is on Tuesday, February 20).

3. Wednesday, February 14, Day 1

   1. Clubs begin

   2. The Grade 5 students have been crafting and creating their products for the past few weeks and are ready to sell to our awesome Brent Community! Products range from everyday essentials to Valentine’s Day specials! In partnership with Vivistop Baguio, please come and support the Grade 5 Social Studies Market Day on February 14, 3-5 PM at Neutral.

3. February 14, NHS/STUCO Heartstopper Valentine’s Day Dance @Open Basketball Court, Wednesday, 6pm-9pm. This is for Grade 6-12 students.

4. Thursday, February 15, Day 2 | House Games – TBA

5. Friday, February 16| Day 1 | For Grade 8 students and up: You are invited to attend the Grade 11 Theatre Class’ Solo Theatre Piece performances on February 16, Friday, 2:45-3:30. This is featuring the work of: Ah In Lee, IJ Bangsoy and Andre Bautista. The Grade 11 Theatre students have been working very hard to get ready for their first public performance of their IB experience! Each student has written their own solo piece aligning with an aspect of Stanislavski’s theatre theory. There will be a short talkback after each performance. Please come and support our theatre students!

 

6. ISAC Update | From Mr. Drew Hare | ISAC Coordinator | Subic Cup February 16-18

I’m thrilled to share with you that our teams have an exciting opportunity to travel to Subic on Friday, Feb. 16 for a special event. However, I want to kindly remind you that first cuts will take place on Tuesday, Feb 13,  and only those students who make the first cuts will be invited to join us on the trip. For those students who make the team, permission slips will be promptly provided. Please encourage your child to continue giving their best effort in practices, both mentally and physically, as we work towards this goal together. Your support means the world to us, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to witness our team’s growth and success.
