Week of February 3–9, 2025

Dear Brent Community,

We begin this week with gratitude and excitement as we celebrate Filipino Day and continue with many engaging activities for our students.

  • Field Day Appreciation & Congratulations!- A huge thank you to everyone—students, faculty, staff, and parents—who made Field Day such a fun, spirited, and memorable event! Your energy, teamwork, and sportsmanship truly showcased the best of our Brent community. A special thank you to Coach Boy Arandez for his dedication and efforts in organizing this fantastic event. Congratulations to all the Houses for their outstanding participation, and a big cheer for Yellow House for emerging as this year’s Field Day Champion! Well done, everyone! 🎉🏆 Thanks to all faculty, staff, and departments for their support and participation! Thanks to our PTA for the delicious food offerings on that day!
  • Well done to all who students presented during the CAS Assembly on Friday, January 31! In addition, thank you to our faculty supervisors, parent supervisors and parents who offered to host clubs! Your energy and enthusiasm set the stage for an exciting new semester of clubs.
  • Thank you to everyone who attended the Filipino Day rehearsal at the gym on Saturday, February 1. Your participation ensures a smooth and meaningful celebration this week.

Filipino Day 2025: “Pagpapahalaga sa Kulturang Pilipino”

We are excited to share with you our Filipino Day activities this week:

February 3, Monday (Day 2)

  • Afternoon meeting with Student-Led Club facilitators and Faculty Advisors at the Dining Hall at 3:00-3:30 p.m.

February 4, Tuesday (Day 1)

  • 7:45–8:35 AM: Practice per group for Grade 6-12 students (Tuesday Long Homeroom).
  • 3:00–4:00 PM: Grade 10 Pathways Information Afternoon for students and parents/guardians at the Little Theatre.
  • Information on the Brent Diploma and IB Programme and course selection.
  • Facilitated by Mr. Paul Engler and Ms. Almae Caluya.
  • 3:30–5:30 PM: Soccer and Basketball practice.

February 5, Wednesday (Day 2)

  • 7:45–8:35 AM: All-School Filipino Day Chapel at St. Nicholas Chapel (parents/guardians are invited).
  • Filipino Language Students (Grades 6-12) should wear their Brent jackets and black pants for the chapel service.

February 6, Thursday (Day 1)

  • No House Games (to give way for Filipino Day preparations).
  • 3:00–5:00 PM: General rehearsal for Filipino Day performances at the gym (sound system required).
  • 5:00 PM: Club Sign-Up Closes.
    • February 6, 2025 | Rochelle Miguel from EducationUSA with our Grade 11 (10:50 – 11:20 AM) and 12 students (11:20 – 11:50 AM).

February 7, Friday (Day 2) – Filipino Day

  • Filipino Day Dress-Up Day
  • Faculty, students (PreK-12), parents, and staff are invited to wear appropriate Filipino cultural attire in line with the Brent non-uniform dress code guidelines.
  • House Points will be awarded!
  • 3:00–5:00 PM:
  • Filipino Day Cultural Celebration at the BISB Gym, hosted and prepared by Grades 6-12 Filipino classes and Bb. Nelly Doliente.
  • Parents, guardians, and PreK students are invited!

Clubs Timeline

  • January 29 (Wednesday): Club Forms Open for Sign-Up (CAS Assembly).
  • February 11 (Tuesday): CAS Clubs Semester 2 Begins.
  • May 2 (Friday): Clubs End.

Upcoming Activities

  • February 11, Tuesday (Day 2): Clubs begin.
  • February 12, Wednesday (Day 1): Middle School Camp.
  • February 13, Thursday (Day 1): House Games.
  • February 14, Friday (Day 2): Happy Hearts Day Dance for Lower School.
  • February 19, Wednesday: Grade 5 Market Day.
