Dear parents/guardians and students,

Warm greetings! We hope you and your family had a safe and restful weekend.

With Quarter 1 ending this week, we look forward to the release of the Mid Semester Reports on October 6, Friday, 2:45 p.m., and our Parent Teacher Conferences happening on October 9, Monday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (No classes will be held on this day).

What are Midsemester Reports?

  • Midsemester Reports provide a snapshot of your child’s academic progress and performance during the first half of Semester 1. These reports include written comments that offer valuable insights into your child’s strengths and areas for improvement. The grades mentioned in these reports are known as running grades, representing your child’s progress up to that point in the semester. It’s important to note that these running grades do not become part of the student’s official or permanent record. They are interim assessments designed to help students and parents track progress.

What are Parent Teacher Conferences (PTCs)?

  • Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled meetings where you have the opportunity to meet with your child’s teachers individually. During these conferences, you can discuss the Midsemester Reports in detail, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of your child’s academic performance. It’s a time to receive personalized feedback, set academic goals, and explore strategies for your child’s success in the remainder of the semester. PTCs are a chance for open dialogue, ensuring that both parents and teachers are aligned in their efforts to support the student’s educational journey.

Kindly note the following details:

Mid Semester Reports| Release on Friday, October 6, 2:45 p.m.

  1. online return slip due Wednesday, October 4 |  Grade 4-12 parents are asked to fill out an online return slip re: the release of midsem reports (pick up by a parent or student).

  1.  PK-3 parents will receive printed reports through their child (Assignment Notebook).

  2. Grade 3-10 MAP reports will be printed.

  3. Grade 11 & 12 CAS reports will be printed.

To give accurate feedback, we instituted the following for students in Grades 4-12:

  1. When you see an ‘M’ in your child’s gradebook, it means the work is missing, and it’s equivalent to a score of 0. Please note that these ‘M’ grades are visible on BASIS but won’t appear on the Mid Semester Report.

  2. Using ‘M’ when calculating grades significantly impacts the average, as it stands for a score of 0. However, once your child submits the missing work or completes any outstanding requirements, we’ll update the grade to reflect their actual score.

  3. If you have concerns about your child’s performance in a particular subject, we recommend scheduling a Parent-Teacher Conference (PTC). with the teacher. Additionally, our faculty members have sent follow-up emails to students with missing work.

Signing up for Parent Teacher Conferences (PTCs) | On October 9, Monday, there will be no classes. Instead, parents/students are invited to meet with the teachers for 15-minute conferences. Families are given this whole week to sign up.

  1. How to sign up:

    1. Faculty members have PTC sign-up sheets outside their classrooms for students to reserve meeting slots. Students received a Student Sign-Up Sheet for recording their appointments.

    2. Parents can contact a faculty member via email to schedule a meeting. Find faculty email addresses via our Faculty Directory.

    3. Alternative Arrangements: If a parent cannot attend PTCs, they can arrange an alternative meeting time with their child’s teacher.

    4. Virtual Meeting Option: Parents unable to attend physically can request a virtual Google Meet meeting by emailing the teacher.

  2. Faculty will be at their assigned PTC locations

  3. For parents with more than one child and who need assistance in signing up for meet and greet slots, kindly contact Ms. Pia Tuason (Principal’s Office) office via 09662012366, 442-2260 during office hours (7:30-4:30) or email at pia.tuason@brentbaguio.edu.ph

We would like to emphasize the value the school sees in these conferences: they are perhaps the most effective mode of home-to-school communication for helping our students achieve greater success.

Please read through Accessing the BASIS Parent Portal Instructions. Students may also access the Mid Semester Reports through the student portal. If you have trouble logging into your parent portal or student portal account, please don’t hesitate to contact Mr. Kurt Salvador via email at: Kurt Salvador <kurt.salvador@brentbaguio.edu.ph>.

Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to meaningful and relationship-building PTCs on October 9, Monday!

Classes resume on October 10, Tuesday,  Day 2.

Sincerely,

Dr. Celeste R. Engler
