Dear Brent Families and Students,

Good evening. In view of the directive suspending face-to-face classes in Benguet for Tuesday, August 18, Brent Baguio will implement our Flexible Learning Plan tomorrow.

With face-to-face classes again suspended, we are ready to move into our Flexible Learning Plan so students can stay connected with their teachers and continue learning from home.

For Grades 3–12, we will proceed with synchronous online learning using the Day 1 schedule | Google Meet Links for each grade level here.:

7:45–7:55 – Attendance / Homeroom
8:00–9:00 – Block 1
9:05–10:05 – Block 2
10:05–10:25 – Recess
10:25–11:25 – Block 3
11:30–12:30 – Block 4

Our faculty have also been asked to report to campus tomorrow, where it is safe and practical to do so, so they can work from their classrooms, use school resources and connectivity, and support students as smoothly as possible throughout the morning.

For Grades 3–5, live sessions will generally be shorter—about 20–30 minutes within each block—with teachers remaining available for support during the block. Students will also have hands-on or offline activities to complete. For PreK–Grade 2, learning will primarily continue through prepared learning packets and teacher guidance.

During Google Meet sessions, students should be on time, prepared, in proper Brent school uniform, and ready to learn. Cameras should normally be on. If a student has a legitimate connectivity, technical, health, or personal reason to keep the camera off, they should simply inform the teacher. Teachers may specifically require cameras on for attendance, discussions, presentations, assessments, or other activities where visual participation is important.

For Grades 6–12, teachers will be available for the full block. Depending on the activity, students may only need to be online for part of the hour; please follow the teacher’s instructions.

We understand that power and internet conditions may vary. If students are unable to join a live session, they should continue through Google Classroom or the offline learning materials provided and communicate with their teacher when able. Attendance will be noted, but connectivity difficulties during weather-related disruptions will not affect Perfect Attendance awards.

Lower School Learning Packets: Parents of PreK–Grade 5 students may pick up learning packets from the Lower School drop-off area beginning at 8:00 AM tomorrow. Unclaimed packets will subsequently be made available at the guardhouse.

Students should continue to check their Brent email and Google Classroom for class instructions and Google Meet links. Please remember that Meet links are accessible through Brent student email accounts for security and privacy. Our teachers and Guidance Office also remain available for support.

We will continue to be mindful of changing conditions and will update or adjust our plans as more information becomes available, always considering safety, actual conditions on the ground, and what is realistically manageable for our students, families, and staff.

Thank you for your continued flexibility and support.

Sincerely,

Dr. Celeste R. Engler
Headmaster
