Dear Brent Families and Students,

Based on the current weather conditions and advisories, Brent Baguio will shift to fully online Flexible Learning tomorrow, Thursday, September 3 – Day 1.

As we continue to implement our Flexible Learning Plan, we are also making a few improvements based on feedback from students, parents, and teachers. We will keep reviewing, improving, and tweaking the plan as we learn what works best. This is part of our commitment to maintaining meaningful learning, continuity, and appropriate student support even during weather-related disruptions.

Tomorrow’s schedule will be:

  • 7:45–7:55 a.m. – Homeroom Check-In
  • 8:00–9:00 a.m. – Block 1
  • 9:05–10:05 a.m. – Block 2
  • 10:05–10:25 a.m. – Recess / Screen Break
  • 10:25–11:25 a.m. – Block 3
  • 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. – Block 4
  • 12:30–1:30 p.m. – Lunch / Screen Break
  • 1:30–2:15 p.m. – Teacher-Initiated Student Support
  • 2:15–3:00 p.m. – Student-Requested Extra Help

Morning Learning

The morning will remain our structured synchronous learning period. Teachers will meet students live during their scheduled blocks to provide instruction, discussion, guidance, feedback, and supervision.

Google Classroom will continue to be used for learning materials, assignments, and communication, but it will support the live lesson rather than simply replace it with uploaded work.

There may be appropriate periods of independent reading, writing, problem-solving, or other tasks during a block, but teachers will remain available and connected to guide students through the learning.

Afternoon Student Support

We are also introducing a more purposeful afternoon support period specifically for Flexible Learning Days.

From 1:30–2:15 p.m., teachers may contact students who would benefit from additional clarification, remediation, feedback, follow-up on incomplete work, or another short academic check-in.

From 2:15–3:00 p.m., students may request extra help from their teachers. Teachers will provide instructions through Google Classroom on how students may sign up for an available time.

The afternoon is intended for targeted support and individual assistance, rather than another period of whole-class instruction.

We recognize that severe weather may also affect electricity and internet access. Students who experience genuine connectivity or power difficulties should communicate with their teachers when able and continue through Google Classroom or available materials once access is restored.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility as we continue to strengthen our Flexible Learning Plan. Our goal is to ensure that these days remain meaningful learning days while also recognizing the realities families may face during periods of severe weather.

Faculty and Campus Operations

As with our usual Flexible Learning arrangements, faculty are not required to report to campus tomorrow, though they are most welcome to use the school’s facilities if this is helpful for conducting their online classes. Boarding services will continue as usual, and school offices will remain operational to support students, families, and the wider Brent community.

Most importantly, please continue to prioritize your family’s safety.

Warm regards,
Dr. Celeste R. Engler
