SEPT 2-5 AND UPCOMING ACTIVITIES

Dear Brent Community,

The past week has asked all of us to be especially flexible.

Beginning Friday, August 28, changing weather and travel conditions required us to move from our regular school schedule to hybrid learning, followed by the long weekend for National Heroes’ Day and Baguio Day, and then another combination of hybrid and Flexible Learning days this week.

We also recognize that several families were affected directly by the weather and travel situation. Some were stranded outside Baguio, some were unable to travel back to the city as planned, and others had to make difficult decisions about whether it was safe to come to campus. We appreciate the communication from families throughout this period and the understanding shown as we tried to provide learning options that remained accessible while responding to changing conditions.

Thank you to our students, parents, faculty, and staff for continuing to adjust, communicate, and keep learning moving forward. We know that repeated changes can be challenging, and we remain grateful for everyone’s patience, cooperation, and good judgment.

Wednesday, September 2 – Day 2

We returned through an in person learning arrangement, allowing students to participate either on campus or from home depending on family circumstances and travel conditions.

This was especially important for families who were still unable to return to Baguio or who remained affected by road and weather conditions. Students learning from home were able to continue participating without being penalized for not attending in person.

The CAS Assembly was held, club sign-up forms opened, and the Football Grassroots Orientation took place.

Thank you to our faculty for managing the demands of simultaneous in-person and online learning, and to our families for communicating closely with the school.

Thursday, September 3 – Day 1

With weather and travel conditions continuing to present challenges, we shifted fully to our Flexible Learning Program.

Students attended their regular synchronous morning classes, followed by afternoon opportunities for teacher-initiated student support and student-requested extra help.

Friday, September 4 – Day 2

Today we continue under our Flexible Learning Program.

Our teachers are conducting synchronous online classes, while offices are operating on a modified schedule from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM as staff prepare the campus for the coming week. Boarding services continue as usual.

Thank you especially to our students for continuing to show up, participate, communicate, and engage with their learning despite the many adjustments.

We are hopeful for a return to a more regular school rhythm next week. We will, of course, continue to monitor conditions and communicate should further adjustments become necessary.

We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to campus and returning to the fuller rhythm of school life—learning together in our classrooms, rehearsing, playing, serving, leading, and simply being together again.

Please continue to take care and stay safe.

Warmly,

Dr. Celeste R. Engler
