Dear Brent Community,

Here are important updates and events for this week, along with a look ahead to some upcoming activities.

  • Classes will hopefully resume tomorrow, September 18, Wednesday, on a Day 1 schedule.

SEP 16 MON, Day 1

  • At 1 p.m., Mayor Benjamin Magalong suspended classes for Preschool to High School, due to the ongoing inclement weather in the locality.

  • ISAC Parent Mtg | – POSTPONED to Wednesday due to class cancellation

  • Club Supervisors Mtg | – POSTPONED due to class cancellation

  • ISAC Volleyball Parent Mtg | Meeting Details: Date: September 18, 2024 (Wednesday), Time: 3:00 PM, Location: Little Theater, Brent Baguio

  • Welcome Salibi Cultural Group- An exciting opportunity awaits for our Grade 6 Social Studies class. We will invite the Salibi Cultural Group (℅ Mrs. Paula Palangeo-Falisong) from Easter School to share insights and stories about Cordilleran culture, enhancing the students’ connection with the region’s history and traditions. The session will take place on September 18, 2024, in the Little Theatre from 1:20 PM to 2:45 PM.

  • Golf Club Announcement: The Golf Club (supervised by Teacher Douglas Fehlen) will meet tomorrow at 3:15 PM at the Little Theater (if it rains) or the Lower School Playground (if the weather is clear). This is a meet-and-greet with Coach Mr. Kim. New members don’t need to bring anything, and no fees will be charged for this session. More information will be shared during the meet-and-greet, and parents are welcome to attend this first session.

    • Red House- gym- 2:45- 3: 15- Yellow house -3:15-4:00

    • ( Blue house has priority in scheduling gym practices during lunch time or common free time of house members until performance time))

  • Notes:

    • Lower School: 2:45-3:25 PM | Parents, please pick up your children at the practice venues.

    • LS Homeroom teachers may share more specific information via the Assignment Notebook.

    • Middle and Upper School: 3:00-4:15 PM

    • Note: PreK students do not need to attend. Participants include Kinder students, Beginners (Grades 1-3), Juniors (Grades 4-6), Intermediates (Grades 7-9), and Seniors (Grades 10-12).

SEP 21 SAT

  • Brent Invitational : The Brent Invitational: Season 1, taking place on Saturday, September 21, 2024, is a friendly volleyball tournament aimed at fostering camaraderie among BCAPS member schools. This event, held at the Brent Gymnasium from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, serves as preparation for our athletes ahead of the Subic Cup and ISAC Season 1. With 25 Brent athletes, Grade 11 and 12 volunteers, and 10 teams from various private schools participating, the invitational promises an exciting day of competition, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The event will be overseen by Nicolai Cariño, Dana Salvador, and the Volleyball Coaches.

Sept. 21 (Sat)

9:00 – 11:00 AM

Full cast and crew rehearsal for Scenes 1 – 11. Please bring prescribed costumes (if available). This will be a “dropped script” rehearsal.

Acknowledgments:

  • September 9, Monday (Day 2): Grade 8 students enjoyed an educational visit to the Museo Kordilyera during Block 3. Thank you, T. Geraldine for coordinating this!

  • September 10, Tuesday (Day 1): The MS/US Host Culture Day, organized by Bb. Nelly and NHS, took place at the Chapel.  Well done!

  • The Junior Life Skills Session was successfully conducted from 12:40 to 3:15 PM at the Little Theater, with lunch provided. Thank you, Mr. James Young, Mr. Paul Engler, Ms Nicolai Cariño and Ms Almae Caluya.

  • September 11, Wednesday (Day 2):
    The PTA Leadership Induction Chapel was held at 7:45 AM. Thank you to our parents for the support!
    At 3:00 PM, the PTA Assembly took place in the Dining Hall. This was a well attended event! Thank you to all!
    The Senior Life Skills Session ran from 12:40 to 3:15 PM at the Little Theater, with lunch provided. Thank you, Bb Nelly, Mr Paul Engler, Ms Donna Nebrija  and Ms Almae Caluya.

  • September 12, Thursday (Day 1): A big thank you to Ms. Almae, the IT team (Mr. Gilbert and Mr. Kurt), and all faculty who helped  in conducting a successful MAP testing period!

  • September 15, Sunday:
    The football friendly games took place from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, bringing together players and spectators for a great day of sportsmanship. Thank you to Mr Peter Tan, Coach Boy Arandez, the Bulldog teams and parents and all who supported!

Looking ahead:

Career Week 2024 is scheduled for September 23 – 27, 2024, with the theme: From Learning to Leadership. The following activities are planned: class career talks, LS career demonstrations, MS/US leadership snapchats, and career dress-up day. This year, we aim to continue expanding career awareness and understanding, foster leadership skills and inspiration, and encourage self-exploration and professional aspirations. We are fortunate to have access to many amazing community leaders within the Brent Baguio family.  Please see previous email sent by Ms. Almae Caluya for details.
