Dear Brent Community,

We are grateful to be completing only our second full week of uninterrupted in-person classes since the opening of the school year, and we are hopeful that next week will give us a third.

After the number of class cancellations and learning disruptions we experienced earlier in the term, these full weeks matter. They allow students and teachers to regain momentum, settle into routines, and make the most of the instructional time available to us.

For this reason, we are continuing with the previously announced instructional-day recovery measures. Friday, October 2 will remain a regular class day, with a late start at 8:30 AM in recognition of the City’s Teachers’ Day observance, and the previously scheduled Parent-Teacher Conference Day on Monday, October 5 will also be used as a regular class day.

We know these adjustments ask something of both our teachers and families, and we are grateful for the continued flexibility and support shown as we work to protect instructional time and maintain learning continuity.

Thank you to everyone who supported a particularly active day on campus.

We welcomed athletes, families, coaches, and guests for the Brent Cup and Football Grassroots Practice Games and Friendlies.

Monday, September 21 – Day 1

Students participated in their Annual Physical Examinations as part of our continuing health and wellness program.

The Little Mermaid Jr. cast continued rehearsals, while our Lower School Production students continued their Acting Workshop.

Tuesday, September 22 – Day 2

The Little Mermaid Jr. rehearsed during Long Homeroom, while our Lower School Production students continued their morning Acting Workshop.

Career Week Assembly

As part of Career Week 2026: “Create. Connect. Contribute.”, we were pleased to welcome three Baguio-based professionals whose work reflects very different but complementary fields:

  • Ms. Maria Elena Catajan – journalist and media practitioner, who shared perspectives from a career in news, communication, and public-interest storytelling.
  • Arch. Dulthe Carlo Munar – architect, artist, educator, and 2022 Outstanding Citizen of Baguio for Culture and the Arts, whose work spans architecture, mentorship, youth development, and community arts.
  • Ms. Melan Ku Marquez – entrepreneur, hotelier, founder of Art Heals Incorporated, and Outstanding Woman Leader Awardee, whose work brings together hospitality, business, creativity, mental-health advocacy, and community engagement.

Through the themes Finding Your Voice, Building Your Craft, and Creating an Impact, our panelists shared how their own strengths, experiences, mentors, challenges, and connections shaped the work they do today.

Thank you to Ms Almae Caluya for organizing this assembly and to our speakers for giving our students a thoughtful and very real glimpse into different professional journeys—and into the many ways a career can also become a means of contributing to one’s community.

Our Career Week Assembly encouraged students to think about their interests, strengths, future pathways, and possibilities beyond school.

Our JCo officers and class representatives also met to celebrate their induction and discuss preliminary plans and priorities for the school year.

Our Houses continued their Pep Rally preparations, with students and House leaders working together in preparation for the weeks ahead.

Friday, September 25 – Day 1

We concluded Career Week with Career Dress-Up Day, giving students a fun opportunity to imagine and represent future professions and pathways.

Important Schedule Update | October 2 and 5

As part of our instructional-days recovery measures:

  • Friday, October 2 – Day 2: Regular class day with a late start. Classes begin at 8:30 AM. Mid-Semester Reports will also be released
  • Monday, October 5 – Day 2: Regular make-up class day. There will be no formal Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Based on our review of the instructional delivery record since the opening of school, we will use a Day 2 schedule for the October 5 make-up day.

Following the release of Mid-Semester Reports, students and parents are encouraged to review progress together. Parents may contact individual teachers directly for any needed follow-up, and individual meetings may be arranged by appointment when necessary.

This allows us to recover valuable instructional time while continuing to maintain communication and support around student progress.

As September comes to a close, we are grateful for the many ways our students continue to learn and grow through academics, leadership, service, athletics, the arts, and community life.

We are also grateful for the stability of these recent weeks and hopeful that next week will give us our third full uninterrupted week of in-person learning.
