September 9, 2026 

Junior Council, Student Council, Homeroom Class Officers, and House Heads and Leaders for School Year 2026–2027 were formally inducted during a special chapel service on September 9 that brought together student leaders from across the school, recognizing their new roles as representatives of their classmates and members of the wider Brent community.

Guided by this year’s chapel theme, “Be Respectful of Each Other,” and the teaching of Matthew 7:12—“Always treat others as you would like them to treat you”—the induction emphasized that leadership is not simply a position of honor, but a responsibility to serve others with humility, integrity, kindness, and respect.

Leadership Through Service

In addressing the newly inducted leaders, the school emphasized the responsibilities that come with student leadership. Council officers and representatives are expected to participate actively in meetings and school activities, faithfully fulfill their duties, listen to and represent the concerns of their classmates, and support school policies and programs.

They are also called to promote responsible care for the school, community, and environment, while treating fellow students, teachers, staff, and all members of the community with dignity and respect. Most importantly, they are expected to lead by example—in the classroom, on the sporting field, in chapel, in the boarding houses, during school activities, and beyond the campus.

The Scripture reading from Philippians 2:3–4 reinforced this message, calling on the community to act with humility, value others, and look beyond personal interests to the interests of others.

A Commitment to the Brent Community

The induction ceremonies formally welcomed the Junior Council Officers and Representatives, followed by the Student Council Officers and Representatives for SY 2026–2027. Homeroom class officers from Grades 3 through 12 were also inducted, recognizing the important role they play in representing and supporting their respective classes.

The Blue, Red, and Yellow House Heads and Leaders were likewise formally presented and inducted. As part of their commitment, the House leaders affirmed their responsibility to lead by example and to serve their fellow House members in keeping with the Christian values that guide the Brent community.

A symbolic passing of the gavel of responsibility further highlighted the transition of leadership and the trust placed in those who will serve the student body throughout the school year.

Respect Is Everyone’s Responsibility

The service concluded by reminding the newly inducted leaders—and the entire Brent community—that respect is not the responsibility of leaders alone.

The closing prayer called on the community to speak kindly, listen openly, disagree respectfully, forgive readily, include generously, and care sincerely for one another. It also asked that the student leaders demonstrate wisdom, courage, patience, humility, and compassion in their service.

The commissioning prayer brought the student leaders together in a shared commitment to serve for the welfare of others and for the greater good of the community.

As the new Junior Council, Student Council, class officers, and House leaders begin their terms, they carry with them not only the responsibilities of their respective positions, but also a simple yet powerful principle to guide their leadership:

Treat others as you would like to be treated.
