Dear Brent family,

We are nearly completing a full month of the second semester, and we are glad that everyone has settled in well with learning and teaching routines and socio-emotional learning strategies. We all are ready and able to keep the momentum and enthusiasm up as well as look forward to and participate in many of our upcoming school activities.

Here are some updates:

CAS Clubs- Ms. Laura Johnson, CAS Coordinator, hosted an assembly on Wednesday, February 2 featuring the well-prepared, impressive and creative pitches of our CAS Club Student Leaders. Here is the recording (viewable through student email access) Thank you as well to Ms. Kim Arganda for facilitating the LS CAS Club assembly. Well done!

Filipino Day- In honor and appreciation of our host country, let us once again come together as one Brent family and celebrate the Philippines’ rich and unique facets of culture, art, history and most especially its people.  Activities include an all-school chapel and assemblies dedicated to the theme “SINEFEST: An Appreciation of Filipino Films”. Here are the following:

 

  1. February 9, Wednesday- Filipino Day chapel

  2. February 16, Wednesday- Filipino Day Assembly (Part 1 – Festival of short films created by Filipino Classes)

  3. February 18, Friday-  Filipiniana Dress-Up Day

  4. Filipino Day Assembly (Part 2 – Red Carpet and Cultural Presentations as well as special performances by the Lower School Music classes.

Congratulations to Don Josephus Raphael Eblahan, BISB Class of 2015,who won the Grand Jury Prize in the Short Film category in the Sundance film fest 2022 for his short film “The Headhunter’s Daughter”. More information on Don and this project here: trailer, awarding and Meet the Artist.

Likewise, we are happy to share with the community that Gari Pescador, Grade 8 and MC Cascato’s Grade 8 artworks are featured on the Middle School Art pages (page 44) of the EARCOS Journal (Winter Edition) .  Well done!

We remain committed to sustaining what’s great and to learning and growing through experience and reflection. We will continue to approach this school year with curiosity, creativity, hope and agility. More updates will be forthcoming with regards to our Hyflex arrangements in the coming days.

While we have challenges and difficulties because of this extended crisis, let’s work together, communicate effectively and collaborate as a team so that we can overcome them and #BeourBestatBrent.
